Yahoo! Video began as a video search engine and in late 2006 added the ability for anyone to upload video clips to Yahoo! Video's web servers. It has combined a traditional video search engine, which crawls and links off to videos on different web sites, with a Web 2.0 service that allows users to upload, share, tag, and host their videos on Yahoo!, offering an embedded player experience like YouTube or Google Video.
